Your first stop shall be St. Mary's Abbey. Wander around the ruins and find out what life was like in the largest fortified Abbey in England.
From St. Mary’s Abbey you’ll walk to the Kings Manor and discover its links to St. Mary’s Abbey and some of the Kings of England, before setting off to see the first castle of the day.
You’ll visit Clifford’s Tower, entry is on us! Explore this castle with your guide from its Norman roots all the way to its Victorian past. The scene of executions, and one of York’s darkest nights, this humble castle has ghosts to lay to rest.
A short walk across the River Ouse we take in some of the city wall and York’s forgotten castle, Baille Hill and discover its links to the city and the English Civil war.
We’ll have lunch along the famous ‘Bishy Road,’ winner of the best high street in Britain award.
After lunch we’ll take our chauffeured 8-seater and travel in style to Sheriff Hutton Castle (Pictured top of the page) to continue our tour. The seat of the Council of the North this castle has links to Richard III.
Then it’s off to Scarborough where you’ll have some free time before we start again tomorrow!
Sunday April 21st

Your guide shall meet you at your chosen accommodation ‘The Grande Hotel,’ at 9.30am for a tour along the sea front up to the castle. Entry is on us, and our guide will take you around areas of interest. After you will get the opportunity to explore the castle for yourself.
We’ll lunch in Scarborough before we head off to Pickering Castle, this idyllic castle was where royalty came to hunt, deer and pheasant and guarded the main road across the Moors to Scarborough and Whitby. Your guide will bring it to life before you explore on your own for those perfect family photos.
From Pickering we head to Whitby and catch one of the last trips of the day, a complimentary trip aboard a ship to see Whitby from the ocean! Some great views of the Abbey are visible too, we’ll go there on your last day with us. After the tour of Whitby bay, we’ll get you to your nights’ accommodation and then the evenings yours to explore. There are some awesome seafood restaurants here and not forgetting the famous Magpie Inn’s Fish and Chips.
Monday April 22nd

Our guide will meet you at your accommodation ‘The Royal Endeavour Inne,’ at 9.30am and take you on a tour of Whitby and its history. You will find out about the Railway King, Lewis Carrol, Bram Stoker and much more. Your guide will take you to the Captain Cook Museum (Entry Not included, allow 2 hours) as they build up a story explaining why the Abbey is at the very heart of the Town when you visit toward the end of the tour.
We’ll take care of your entry to Whitby Abbey. Our guide will bring the ruins alive for you as he describes Viking Invasions and the rise and fall of this once proud Abbey. After explore for yourselves and visit the Abby’s information centre to find out about some off the people who lived there in the past and much more. There is also a shop at the exit to the Abbey for that perfect souvenir.
Your guide will meet you outside and take you to St. Michaels church and then down the 199 steps or donkey path. This leads to a nice place for a bite to eat before you explore the Jet shops and jewellery shops of this ancient town.
Then it’s back across the Yorkshire Moors, we’ll stop off at some great vantage points for that perfect photo, before taking you back to your chosen accommodation in York.
