Trip Information

ARE THE TRIPS SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES?

Our trips are suitable for children 5 years and older. Children aged 3 or 4 are welcome but bear in mind there is a lot of walking and climbing. We cannot accept under 5’s on the Mini-coach unless specifically arranged in advance. Due to current laws you will be required to bring/hire a Child Car Safety Seat, suitable for the age of the child and which fits our standard car style seat belts, and you will still need to purchase a ticket for the child, regardless of age.

Ask us about our public transport alternatives….escorted by your personal guide!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING AS A TICKET?

You can print a copy of the email confirmation or just show the booking confirmation to our Tour Guide on a phone or other mobile device. We will be expecting you so it’s not the end of the world if you are unable to bring a copy of your booking along!

Where is the PICK-UP point?

In most cases the meeting point will be outside or close to your accommodation. When this is not possible, you will be notified in advance of pickups and times.

To beat traffic, pick-ups could be earlier than advertised in the itinerary.

ON WHICH DAYS DO THE TRIPS RUN, AND DO YOU CANCEL TRIPS?

If you book, we will run the trip no matter what the day or time of year! We will never cancel a tour unless under extreme circumstances, EG mechanical issues, extreme weather. You can book with confidence and look forward to building a great holiday experience with British Routes Holidays. Our tours run no matter what the numbers, so whether that’s an intimate group of 2 or a family of 8 we are ready to show you the best of the county.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TICKET PRICE?

We offer a personal guide, transport in a comfortable, air-conditioned 8-16 seat Mini-bus and on our specialist tours, admission to some venues and attractions. Alternative transport, trains, buses also paid for!  Just ask your guide to see what’s included.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT USE.

In some cases, we may use alternative transport such as the Coast-liner bus service, voted the best coach route in Britain, and local trains to give you a real sense of exploration. Transport is paid for you!  If you like this alternative please let us know. It is also easier for children under 5 to access than our mini coach due to regulations. Your guide will travel with you every step of the way!

WHAT ARE THE GROUP SIZES?

All our Day Trips are conducted in small groups with a maximum of 8 people on each one. Using a smaller vehicle helps us to take you to the heart of those places you want to explore and minimise walking.” However, space is limited so book early to avoid disappointment!

Larger groups by arrangement. There a limit of 20 on our regular city walking tours.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

We believe you can only have the wrong clothes in Yorkshire and run tours whatever the weather! With our positive team you’ll experience some great days out.

SHOULD I BRING FOOD?

Our tours are designed for food breaks/ toilet stops. We have sourced stops where you can buy food and drinks but, if you prefer to bring your own along, that is fine. We just do ask that, in fairness to other guests, you do not bring smelly food onto the Mini-bus and remember no food with nut content.

HOW MUCH WALKING IS REQUIRED?

Our tours require some walking, in your itinerary we’ll let you know the difficulty for the day ahead ranging from, hilly, lots of steps and climbing, to flat and easy to walk. We do take breaks though so don’t worry too much. Most of the time our mini bus will get us as close as possible to our starting point. Have a talk to your personal guide if you want to do less walking, there is always a more chilled out option if you prefer!

CAN I BRING A SUITCASE WITH ME?

If you are arriving or departing York on the day of your trip with us, we can accommodate your suitcase up to 20kg in the luggage compartment for the day or alternatively you can use the secure and friendly Bag drop on Peter Gate near York Minster.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE WHEELCHAIRS?

Fold up chairs can be accommodated but there is no space for motorised versions. There will be at least 3 steps into the Mini-bus. Please get in touch before you book and we can recommend the best tours for you.
